FORKS MEMBERSHIP—THE DISCOVERY CLASS

Joining a church is more than merely attending or even volunteering.  It is to enter into a covenant with a group of people to whom you commit yourself and they likewise commit themselves to you.

• The Church is the only institution on earth that Jesus commissioned to be his representative (Matthew 16:18).
• The Church is more than just a gathering of Christians – it has biblical standards and structures that God has appointed (i.e. elders, sacraments, etc.), that gives it priority over para-church organizations (as important as such ministry partners may be).

Thus, we encourage adults and young people to go through the membership class and join the church. Becoming a member places one under the care of the elders and provides more opportunities to use the gifts which God has given each believer.

Discovery Class

This class is for all who are wanting to learn more about the what, why, and who of The Forks Presbyterian Church. It is intended to introduce our Christian beliefs (the Scriptures), our Christian framework (The Westminster Confession of Faith), and our Christian Mission. The Discovery class is also a great way to be introduced to ministries in the church and find opportunities to serve Christ and his people. Taking the class does not require one to become a member. The class is 10 weeks long, is led by the Pastor, and takes place once a year beginning in January. For more information please contact the church office (610.942.2626).
