A Reformed Evangelical Presbyterian Church

Church Ministry

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul explains to the church in Corinth that God has appointed special gifts to all his people. We use these gifts and blessings to further the Church of Christ. We at the Forks are blessed to have a wide range of people with these gifts.

Elders

Our form of church government is presbyterian in nature; or, in other words, our church is governed by elders. Presbyterian comes from the Greek word “presbyteros” meaning, "elder." Paul emphasized a plurality of elders in the early church (Titus 1:5; Acts 20:17). An elder is a biblically qualified individual who has been nominated, trained, examined, and ordained to oversee the affairs of the church. The Bible gives explicit qualifications for such people

 (1 Tim. 3:1-7).

Here at the Forks, Elders are elected to serve 3 year terms on our Session Board. The Session is responsible for ecclesiastical focus of the Church. Elders oversee the educational studies in the church, explore ministry opportunities and encourage membership in the Church.

Deacons

A deacon is a biblically qualified individual who has been nominated, trained, examined, and ordained to minister to the physical needs of the church. Deacon means, literally, "one who waits on tables." The Apostles appointed the first deacons so that the Apostles could better attend to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6). The Bible gives explicit qualifications for deacons (1 Tim. 3:8-13).

Trustees

The Board of Trustees serves as the corporation of the church. Maintaining an almost 300 year old church grounds can be a daunting task. Trustees manage the financials and work closely with the Sexton taking care of the buildings and grounds of the church and cemetery.

Fellowship Committee

This committee works to provide food and drinks during special events at the Forks including coordinating cooking at our annual Worship in the Park, Congregational Meetings and other meal preperations.

Music Team

The Music Team coordinates with the organist and various members to support the music performed during Worship service and events. The Forks has a few groups that use their gifts to glorify God.

Online Outreach

This team oversees the website, Audio production during church activities and Video production of the livestream and sermons. Through our online programs on SermonAudio and YouTube, our message has reached over 30 countries with over 4000 views and downloads since January this year.
