Local Ministry
The Forks Church seeks to advance the Gospel of Christ in the world not only in Word (preaching, mission, and evangelism) but in Deed (service and good works). The congregation seeks to minister to the surrounding community in practical ways. The following list of ministries and organizations describes some of the ways that the Forks Church members and participants are being equipped and mobilized to serve our community, state, and nation.
A long time tradition of the Forks is sponsoring a Seminary student for a pastoral calling.
Our current student, Israel Sanchez, hails from Bolivia.
Israel and his wife Victoria have had a long relationship with the Forks through our many mission trips to Bolivia.
They both have moved into the Manor House, along with their two cats.
American Heritage Girls (AHG) was founded by a group of parents wanting a faith-based, scout-type character development program for their daughters in 1995. The AHG Program is dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. AHG girls across the nation and the globe participate in badge programs, service projects, leadership opportunities, and outdoor experiences, all with an emphasis on Christian values and family involvement.
AHG Meets at the Forks the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00pm
Trail Life USA is a Church-Based, Christ-Centered, Boy-Focused mentoring and discipleship journey that speaks to the heart of a boy. Established on timeless values derived from the Bible and set in the context of outdoor adventure, boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade are engaged in a Troop setting by male mentors where they are challenged to grow in character, understand their purpose, serve their community, and develop practical leadership skills to carry out the mission for which they were created.
Trail Life Meets at the Forks the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00pm
The Forks is a Partner Church with Good Works by participating in their Good Neighbor Program. The program is where churches partner with GW by providing regular volunteers and workday leaders to complete home repairs for a homeowner and see the process through from beginning to end. They care for their “adopted” families in other ways too, such as ongoing emotional support and prayer. When homeowners and volunteers come together regularly, often lasting relationships result—enriching the lives and faith of both. The Partner Church outreach embraces the true meaning of active, living faith and provides opportunities to extend God’s love in a variety of ways.
A group of Forks volunteers meet at an ‘adopted home’ on the 4th Saturday of each month.
The average day is 9:00am-3:00pm, but you can give whatever time you have available.
Won’t you prayerfully consider volunteering some Saturday?
No skills necessary. All tools provided. Lunch is provided also.
On March 2, 1987, 37 Christians gathered in a church basement in Coatesville, PA, to listen to Sandy Lewis and Linda Witmer share their vision for how churches could respond to women and children facing homelessness. The group listened as three women who were homeless shared their personal stories. The group represented a cross-section of churches but was united by a deep sense of Christ’s call to compassion for families facing homelessness. As they explored ways churches could make a real and lasting difference, God’s Spirit prompted 10 women and men to step forward.
Today, 23 Bridge of Hope locations are active in 13 states across the country. After 30 years and national growth, Bridge of Hope’s mission distinctive remains the same: engaging Christian faith communities in ending and preventing family homelessness through neighboring relationships that demonstrate Christ’s love.
Chester County Connect Care is a Pregnancy Care Medical Center that exists to educate and empower individuals and their families to make life-affirming choices.
Often times a positive pregnancy test is not good news to a woman.
Looking back on times of crisis we realize that we are not always able to think things through clearly. Instead, we often regret the important decisions we make in crisis mode. This is why it's always good to have someone who can come alongside you to help you consider all of your choices and see the big picture. Someone who can help you understand there is life beyond the crisis.
Chosen People Ministries is a Messianic Jewish non-profit organization that engages in Christian evangelism to Jews. Paul and Linda head up the Philadelphia branch of this organization.
Chosen People Ministries exists to pray for, evangelize, disciple, and serve Jewish people and help fellow believers to do the same. The central mission of OneRunTogether is to provide financial assistance to local cancer patients while they are undergoing treatment. We help them pay medical bills and living expenses. Some of the grants we’ve given paid for other things like childcare for the patient’s children during treatments, automobile repairs so the patient could get to treatments, and mortgage/rent bills.
Since August 26, 2011 we have given over 385 grants for more than $180,000.00. The generous support of the community is what helps us to help those who are in very dire and difficult circumstances.
